Pick your friends and your lovers
The world says you need no others
But I’ve learned what the world won’t say:
Give them nothing and go your own way
You think they’re not what they appear
That they are deep down arduous and clear
That they can be trusted, even respected
That they’re different than what you expected
Try and be noble and you’ll only find
That the assumptions are right about their kind
They really are as shallow as they seem
Desperately they seek the ugly dream
Parading around in their costumes they lie
Lying with others they think they’re sly
Uncaring eyes look into yours and you know
They aren’t your friends, now it’s your turn to go
So I have become a shadow, stalking the light
I care not for them; my friends are in the night
I will dedicate myself to desolation
They will suffer under my endless ruination
For all their lies and false smiles
There will be nothing for me to reconcile
So learn it yourself or heed my words
All them people ain’t nothing but turds

Cold Tonight
Cold tonight
Mind doesn’t feel right
War has been death of light
End of all is in sight
No will left, no fight
The great have no might
Here is the final blight
Cold tonight
Mind doesn’t feel right
War has been death of light
End of all is in sight
No will left, no fight
The great have no might
Here is the final blight
Cold tonight
Cognitive Decisions
Cognitive decisions are hard for me
Too often I think with the wrong head
When will I learn, when will I see?
If I keep it up I’ll have no one to bed
It’s just that it’s hard to think rationally
There’re so many options, it’s easy to forget
I must remember that most serve me detrimentally
I can’t become comfortable enough to think I’m set
Too often I think with the wrong head
When will I learn, when will I see?
If I keep it up I’ll have no one to bed
It’s just that it’s hard to think rationally
There’re so many options, it’s easy to forget
I must remember that most serve me detrimentally
I can’t become comfortable enough to think I’m set
Time's Ocean
Drifting through Time’s ocean
Your mind finds a potion
A dreamlike state rolls in
And your eyelids fold in
Floating through Space’s hall
You hear faintly a call
But the air is so thick
As you helplessly fall
Landing on Sanity’s net
You hastily make a bet
With the nowhere man standing there
That you never lose Russian roulette
Swimming in Death’s pool
A haze makes you the fool
And here there is no rule
But this Hell is quite cool
Searching through Memory’s banks
Your mind’s gun is shooting blanks
And Death’s key clanks
While your body slowly tanks
Ambling through Night’s stars
You reach ground that is hard
Your journey’s gone near and far
And your mind’s got nary a scar
Falling for Sleep’s trick
The flickering of consciousness’ wick
Slows as your grip becomes slick
Your mind’s thoughts become rhythmic
And consciousness reaches its last tick
Your mind finds a potion
A dreamlike state rolls in
And your eyelids fold in
Floating through Space’s hall
You hear faintly a call
But the air is so thick
As you helplessly fall
Landing on Sanity’s net
You hastily make a bet

Now It Ends
Now it ends and we’re here at the start
We rehearsed but no one prepared for the part
Years turned to months and months to weeks
Weeks turned to days and days to minutes
Minutes to seconds and now:
The clock strikes twelve
For all our practice and preparation
All our delirium and dedication
None can find the words
To describe the situation
Looking back it all seems truly mundane
Even so, none of it drove us insane
We say we’ve matured
But we’re still mere children
And I think none of us would complain
Another chance?
I’d never change a thing
Have lived life free from compromise
And step into the sunlight now
Without complaint
Now it ends and we’re here at the start
Anyone up for the final part?
We rehearsed but no one prepared for the part
Years turned to months and months to weeks
Weeks turned to days and days to minutes
Minutes to seconds and now:
The clock strikes twelve
For all our practice and preparation
All our delirium and dedication
None can find the words

Anyone up for the final part?
Clouds Turn Black
Clouds turn black as smoke fills your lungs
And you try to escape but there’s nowhere to run
Forests ablaze you run straight for days
But the fire only stays to increase the haze
Running through the night as timbers ignite
You try to take flight from the burning light
The creatures flock as you head for the rock
And you try desperately to untie the knot
Nature cries as God’s creation dies
And the river dries as the flames slowly rise
Your resolve is dissolved as you start to fall
Your mind is absolved of all it once recalled
Suddenly the fire is burning its last
As you stare at the clouds that are no longer black
And your thoughts return as your memory’s found
And then alone in the carnage you notice the ground
Surrounded by scorched cousins a lone seed lies
And you wonder how this could be passed by
You think of the cost of all that was lost
But before you can act you pass out from exhaust
And you try to escape but there’s nowhere to run
Forests ablaze you run straight for days
But the fire only stays to increase the haze
Running through the night as timbers ignite
You try to take flight from the burning light
The creatures flock as you head for the rock

The Ball
Well they all gathered there for the ball
And this is what those few watching saw:
Romeo was lonely as per usual
The sorrow he gave and received was mutual
The Queen was lost, her crown sitting alone
The King was there goading all on his own
The Deceiver, his brother, was with some other desperate lover
Figures swayed while music played and the Knight drew his golden blade
Kings were laid while none obeyed and the Bandit broke in, ready to raid
The food grew warm, the punch went cold
And the Liars said that it never got old
In walked the Joker, who never showed a frown
He and the Comedian were one in the same
Both just mockeries of the tortured clown
And neither was even one bit sane
The Hero hid his face as his rival the Villain
Was stealing his place, the bile in his gut filling
Even the Killer was present, charming the innocent
But there was a distraction so their minds were absent
The Queen returned, her visage visibly odd
The King stared while the Joker gave a nod
The music halted most abrupt
As the congregation stared at this wish made corrupt
The Comedian displayed his trick
But all that was spoken was a limerick:
“Come, friends, stare in awe at this sight
The ball must end and I don’t wish to incite
Some form of revolution or uprising
But don’t miss the ever important sizing
Of the Queen’s crown this auspicious night!”
The Joker laughed maniacally at the speech
As only Romeo would have the audacity to preach
Now the Killer was absent, charming the innocent
The King hung his head, out of his infinite talent
The Queen ran defeated, her crown already conceded
The Hero followed suite as the Deceiver desperately pleaded
Not a soul was left in the room
They had all gone off to consol their gloom
So those watching said one thing on his behalf:
“For all his cunning the Joker did have the last laugh.”
