Now It Ends

Now it ends and we’re here at the start
We rehearsed but no one prepared for the part
Years turned to months and months to weeks
Weeks turned to days and days to minutes
Minutes to seconds and now:
The clock strikes twelve

For all our practice and preparation
All our delirium and dedication
None can find the words
To describe the situation

Looking back it all seems truly mundane
Even so, none of it drove us insane
We say we’ve matured
But we’re still mere children
And I think none of us would complain

Another chance?
I’d never change a thing
Have lived life free from compromise
And step into the sunlight now
Without complaint

Now it ends and we’re here at the start
Anyone up for the final part?

Clouds Turn Black

Clouds turn black as smoke fills your lungs
And you try to escape but there’s nowhere to run
Forests ablaze you run straight for days
But the fire only stays to increase the haze

Running through the night as timbers ignite
You try to take flight from the burning light
The creatures flock as you head for the rock
And you try desperately to untie the knot

Nature cries as God’s creation dies
And the river dries as the flames slowly rise
Your resolve is dissolved as you start to fall
Your mind is absolved of all it once recalled

Suddenly the fire is burning its last
As you stare at the clouds that are no longer black
And your thoughts return as your memory’s found
And then alone in the carnage you notice the ground

Surrounded by scorched cousins a lone seed lies
And you wonder how this could be passed by
You think of the cost of all that was lost
But before you can act you pass out from exhaust

The Ball

Well they all gathered there for the ball
And this is what those few watching saw:
Romeo was lonely as per usual
The sorrow he gave and received was mutual
The Queen was lost, her crown sitting alone
The King was there goading all on his own
The Deceiver, his brother, was with some other desperate lover
Figures swayed while music played and the Knight drew his golden blade
Kings were laid while none obeyed and the Bandit broke in, ready to raid
The food grew warm, the punch went cold
And the Liars said that it never got old
In walked the Joker, who never showed a frown
He and the Comedian were one in the same
Both just mockeries of the tortured clown
And neither was even one bit sane
The Hero hid his face as his rival the Villain
Was stealing his place, the bile in his gut filling
Even the Killer was present, charming the innocent
But there was a distraction so their minds were absent
The Queen returned, her visage visibly odd
The King stared while the Joker gave a nod
The music halted most abrupt
As the congregation stared at this wish made corrupt
The Comedian displayed his trick
But all that was spoken was a limerick:
“Come, friends, stare in awe at this sight
The ball must end and I don’t wish to incite
Some form of revolution or uprising
But don’t miss the ever important sizing
Of the Queen’s crown this auspicious night!”
The Joker laughed maniacally at the speech
As only Romeo would have the audacity to preach
Now the Killer was absent, charming the innocent
The King hung his head, out of his infinite talent
The Queen ran defeated, her crown already conceded
The Hero followed suite as the Deceiver desperately pleaded
Not a soul was left in the room
They had all gone off to consol their gloom
So those watching said one thing on his behalf:
“For all his cunning the Joker did have the last laugh.”

Laconically

Trying and trivial this tryst is
Memorizing mistakes I missed
Hesitantly I heed that you are his
Distracting disease won’t cease and desist
Realistically how could I resist?
Blinded by both blight and bliss

Laconically I list my lament
Determined to defeat detriment
Ridiculously readying to repent
Surreptitiously I am a serpent
Tortured by love’s terrible torment
Frantically forgetting I furthered the fragment

Willingly and wittingly I wince
Confused, I commiserate and commence
Desperately I deepen the defense
Feeling fettering on this fence
Offhandedly I offer my final offense
Stupidly I suspend the sequence

All I Need

All I need from you
Is what I missed before
I got enough of one
Now I’ll catch up on two

All I need from you
Is that one moment
When just for a second
I was what you wanted

For I Am Dead

The days of yore are long gone
All that was made has been undone
The trees no longer whisper
The air grows no crisper

In and out, drift the soulless wraiths
They haunt and beset this hallowed place
With eyes of fire they see your mind
To see them dance is to go eternally blind

No living come here; they’ve chosen their path
Hell hath no fury like the Great One’s wrath
Death has dealt his final blow
Across the river doth the ferryman row

What Evil Hand has shown you the way?
What Evil Mind tells you it is day?
The question posed, the answer was said,
“I come here…for I am dead.”

The Reaper

The Reaper, Version I
Fear me ye mortals
For I have walked amongst your dead
I have seen the scattered stone
On the desolate plains
I fought your kings
Across the barren waste my will spread
At your homes I arrive
I am come for your souls
My reach is vast, my army limitless
I am free to conquer

The Reaper, Version II
Fear me ye mortals
For I have walked amongst your dead
I have seen the scattered stone
On the desolate plains
I fought your kings
I claimed their rings
I am come and nothing remains
Your will is no longer your own
Into the darkest valley have you been lead
To the undying portals

The Deceiver

O, the great deceiver!
Always are you the receiver
But never is she the believer
I try, but cannot perceive her

Does your conscience know no bounds?
Constantly making your rounds
Searching endlessly for golden mounds
You are a friend to hounds

No shortage of jealousy here
But do not think that we’re
Trustworthy behind this leer
Someday we may end your career

But no, for you are sly
Who could ever believe such a lie?
Your heart is not reflected in your eye
Your tongue coaxes, “Surely, not I”

Could any spell beset your ways?
When tears cause her eyes to glaze
It is then that your banner is raised
And she is yours for all your days

The deception you have wrought
Makes it impossible for you to be caught
To be honorable is a vile thought
What motivation is there to do what you ought?

But, deceiver, beware
Because even if she never cares
Karma will be there
And you will not be hers to share

Haikus

Writing about love
Paul and Ringo, John and George
The Beatles are good

Haikus are awesome
They contain lots of nature
Flowers! Flowers! Sun.

Father Sun smiles bright
Plants grow big when he is strong
See how they flourish

Crack! Goes the tree branch
Johnny lowers his steel blade
The branch falls on him

Mr. Booth likes to
Write haikus about Vikings
…that’s all I wrote

The story of your fighting
Is a poem of two words:
You suck

Drugs are evil
They destroy your brain cells
And make you smell funny

Haikus were started by
Ancient Samurais who had nothing
Better to do

“When you’ve seen beyond
Yourself then you may find peace of
Mind is waiting there.”

Four

The warrior was alone as the battle raged
But while he fought the joker took the stage
Two actors in different plays

The thief broke the ancient lock
Meanwhile the captain waited at the dock
Two thinkers in different ways

Men and cowards, fools and bastards
They’re all the same despite their names
Runners in a set race, running eternally in place

Time has no friends, only those who never die
The warrior, the joker, the thief and the captain
Are among those few
Though the names may change, the faces, they remain the same

Time is their master but also their servant
A paradigm unparalleled
The warrior grunts, the joker laughs
The thief sneers, the captain frowns

The warrior fights without cause
The joker mocks without applause
Both fool’s errands and necessities

The thief steals without need
The captain orders without heed
Both fool’s errands and necessities

When Time’s hourglass is done
These four turn it over again
Is it them or Time who has won?

Time will not stop them
For it knows that without them
The world will fall into decay
And Death will make its name known

The warrior does not fear Death
The joker laughs in the face of Death
The thief would steal from Death
The captain only awaits his death

Shut Your Mouth

Shut your mouth
Shut your mouth
Just shut your mouth

Shut it up
Shut your mouth
Shut your mouth

Quit complaining
And shut your mouth
Shut your mouth

Your brain
Is a cesspool
Of dumb

So shut your mouth
Shut it now
Shut your mouth

Shut your mouth
You stupid ‘tard
Shut it up

Shut your mouth
Seriously
Shut your mouth

You must be
The spawn of
Carl from Slingblade
And Rain Man

Just shut up forever
Shut your mouth
Shut your mouth

Goodnight World

Goodnight world.
The day is done.
At last, twilight’s come.

The stars are out.
The moon is full.
The sun is no more.

Today is over.
Tomorrow can wait.
Drink in the night.

Lock your doors.
Profess your love.
Shut down your mind.

The time is right.
Turn out your lights.
Say goodnight.

So goodnight earth.
And goodnight sky.
Goodnight and goodbye.

The Dark Knight

The field before him, he rode into the night
Like his ancestors before him he prepared for the fight
The generals gathered, combined their might
He rode onward, a true dark knight

Relieved when home he reached,
He knew that the wall must not be breached
Then they appeared, prepared to siege
The king barely stirred, then summoned his liege

The dark knight burst through the hall
He had heard and answered his king’s call
He must go out and destroy the black thrall
Destroy those who threatened the wall

With a sweeping bow he drew his blade
Then turned to face the ominous raid
He knew the cowards would have rather stayed
Only he could complete this perilous crusade

When he drew near, the demons recoiled in fear
With pointed spear, their crimson blood he would smear
With flame in hand their bodies he would sear
As the carnage ensued their screams were sincere

Throat after throat the knight did slit
He allowed the generals not one single hit
But they had one weapon they would not omit
When it was used the dark knight’s life would be remit

In the end the knight fought and prevailed
The kingdom would never again be assailed
Upon the wall a banner was nailed
Although the black generals caused him to be ailed
The dark knight fought to the last and never failed

The Joker and the Thief

“There’ve been some problems through the land,
Somebody needs to take a stand.”
The Joker reads the headlines and laughs,
The Thief splits the gold in two halves.

Partners for life they soundly agreed,
They could get anything they need.
The Joker the brains, the brawn the Thief.
They always leave their victims in disbelief.

In the night, they skulked alone.
Even their shadows, were never shown.
It seems impossible, but maybe it’s true.
If you’re not careful, they might just get you.

There’s no obstacle that’s too great for them,
They’ll do anything for that precious gem.
They have the means, they know the paths;
Not a single thing is safe from their grasp.

The lesson to be learned is very clear,
The answer’s never, yet always near.
If you find it, you’ll be in disbelief,
But the answer is kept by the Joker and the Thief.

Are you here for that

Are you here for that, Miss?
Did you come to look at this?
Well, he left long ago, yes.
He’s been gone for some time, Miss.

“It was her”, he said.
He wrote, “I’ll soon be dead.”
Blew it straight through his head.
Lay there, still, on the bed.

A terrible thing, suicide.
His motive you ask?
Why, it was his previous matricide.
His mom shouldn’t’ve drunk that cask.

So, Miss, are you here for that?
Are you here to look at this?
Because his note left nothing to you.
What now, are you going to do?

I’ll quickly be the first to tell you that.
You’re to leave, and preferably never come back.
Pack your things, go on your way.
For if you’re not gone,
I fear you shall never again see the light of day.

Link

In the land of Hyrule there lived a boy
Let pass seven years and he becomes a man
Slowly and steadily came together the Dark King’s ploy
Only Link could halt the Gerudo’s plan
With courage and song, and tactics un-coy
Link was prepared to make one last stand
At the Fortress of Darkness Link prepared for his death
But it was Ganon, the Great King of Evil, who drew his last breath

Memories

Memories found, memories lost
So many never know the cost.
Life is filled with such evil things,
That sorrow and despair are all they bring.
Speak not in haste,
Because you will find it is only waste.
So love often, long and well.
And on evil thoughts, never dwell.
When all is said and all is done,
You will find it is joy you’ve won.
